Cette conférence était prévue initialement à deux voix avec Claude Carrière, le jour où il aurait dû fêter ses 82 ans. On évoque souvent la proximité musicale de Duke Ellington et de Thelonious Monk. Leila Olivesi continuera à essayer de comprendre la parenté stylistique de ces deux maîtres du piano et peut-être même leur influence mutuelle. ONLINE CONFERENCE DUKE ELLINGTON & THELONIOUS MONK This lecture was initially planned by Leïla Olivesi and Claude Carriere, the day he would have been celebrating his 82d birthday. Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk’s visions of music are often considered as related. Leïla Olivesi will keep on studying the similarities of these two grand masters of the piano and the musical influence they may have had on each other. Listening to their repertoire, from Monk’s Dream to Kinda Dukish and searching for the moments their works could be so close that we would be almost confused answering the question : who’s playing now ?
